We used to recommend an agent or two but who used to do that search for you and come up with the best routes with the fewest and briefest lay overs at the best price. It seems that is not necessarily the case any more. We have spent a lot of time over the last year helping our Clients locate "better deals". There are several tricks and circumstances to take in to consideration these days, especially with the soaring fuel prices and the devalued Dollar. Knowing when to buy is not that easy any more. In many cases it is best to buy later rather than earlier. You need to know how the Airlines work and with all of our experience in International traveling over the last 5 years, and the changes we have seen take place, as well as the changes that are currently taking place, we have become very good at helping people shave hundreds, and in some cases thousands off of there flight plans. On February 26th a client of ours could only find a flight from Oklahoma City to Butuan in the Philippines for $5,000.00. I said NO WAY! Let me research it for you. Upon looking through the conventional ways I found the same thing. $4,960.00 to $5,600.00! Ridiculous RIGHT! RIGHT! I searched and searched. It took me a couple of hours but I found routes and Air Lines that could accomplish the same flight for $3,000.00 less. It is tedious to put together flights that work and there is a lot involved but it can knock a $5,000.00 price down to less than $2,000.00 or a flight priced at $1,600.00 down to about $1,000.00. In some cases you will need to pick up your luggage and re-check it but that is certainly worth saving hundreds of dollars. There are also the "time Element" considerations. You don't want to have a lay over any longer than necessary but you certainly want them to be long enough to accomplish re checking your baggage if necessary and may be a meal or some leg stretching time.
